Cannot import car older than 5 years old?

Shippers in Bahrain are saying Dubai does not accept cars older than 5 years old. Is this true?

I highly doubt it, Souq and Dubizzle are full of clankers. There has to be a way around.

RTA told me same as well. Cannot import a car older than 5 years

This was the plan - I thought it was canned at the last minute though?

I had my Jeep on Omani plates - when the law was announced it was a mad panick to import it to UAE and then they dropped it. Ask around some more...

Well apparently there is no such law according to RTA call center. Why can't they publicize it in the news when a law is retracted? Just makes everything confusing!

ya actually this confused me also, but u can see that car dealers in al3weer and Abo sh3'ara import 2003 cars till this day , especially the 350zs'.so it seems like that this law is somehow bendable.

Maybe it applies to Dubai, not Sharjah? They import and sell salvaged junk all the time.
